Every now and again I run across something where I think, "why didn't I find that before". The offline support in Google Reader is one of those things...
As I'm sure you know Google Reader is one of the best newsfeed readers on the web today. However like all web based applications there is this little problem with support for working without a net connection. The folks at Google have recognised this as an issue and so using Google Gears they have added an offline mode to the reader. There are still some limitations, but for reading text feeds on the train this looks like the solution.
